Internship opportunity with UNHCR in Albania

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Organizational Unit:  UNHCR Country Office, Tirana/Programme Unit
Duty station:  Tirana, Albania
Type of Contract:  Internship (Full Time)
Duration:  Three months with possibility of extension up to eight months
Expected start date:  April 1st, 2020
Application deadline:  March 3rd, 2020, 17:00

Background information/Organizational Context

UNHCR provides support to asylum seekers and refugees who seek protection in Albania and after receiving status opt for local integration as a durable solution to their situation. UNHCR in Albania operates with different partners among them, local NGOs, UN Agencies and Governmental Institutions to implement its planning on a yearly basis.  Implementation of activities is overseen and monitored also by programme unit and as such a series controlling mechanisms for monitoring and reporting are in place.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the programme unit with data collection and analysis
• Assist the protection unit with assessment process
• Draft documents upon request
• Assist the programme unit in expenditure and other reports for mid-year and end-year
• Assist in drafting briefings and programme snapshots
• Organise seminars and meetings
• Draft and finalise minutes of meetings in programme unit
• Assist programme unit in administrative tasks as required
• Assist Admin/Finance in carrying out expenditure reports
• Assist in monthly reconciliation data recording
• Assist in report running in MSRP
• Assist in daily administrative tasks
• Maintain and carry out monthly filing system for Admin/Finance and Programme

Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for the internship, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

• University Degree on Finance and Economics, Public Administration or related field (completed or in progress).
• Fluency in English and working knowledge of another relevant UN language or local language.
• Command use of Excel spreadsheets

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

Completed Master’s Degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Finance
and Economics, Business Administration or related fields. A PhD degree is an advantage.
Experience and skills
• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience;
• experience in economic and investment in different sectors;
• experience in building and sustaining strong relationships with the diaspora
communities, engaging with local authorities and other stakeholders at senior level;
• ability to maintain accuracy & confidentiality in performing responsibilities;
• good communication skills in both written and oral forms;
• strong interpersonal & intercultural skills with an attention to detail.
Experience in technical advisory boards and/or senior level advisory functions/positions
would be an advantage.

Languages

Fluent English is required. Working knowledge of Italian and Albanian languages would be
an asset.

The British Council is seeking a consultant to work with us on the '21st Century Schools' programme for the Western Balkans Digital Summit in Tirana in April. The consultancy will be based in Tirana and will be working closely with the marketing team across Western Balkans.

The key objectives:
· Event preparation and implementation. To lead the preparation, implementation and delivery of the event marketing activity plan for the British Council '21st Century Schools' on the Western Balkans Digital Summit 2020
· Content preparation and implementation. Manage marketing support for the Regional Coding Challenge on the Western Balkans Digital Summit 2020 in Tirana by producing content for our media activities, social media channels and country websites .
