OSCE Senior Translator/Interpreter Assistant (Albanian)

Under the supervision of the National Language Service Co-ordinator, the incumbent will be performing the following duties:
1. Quality Control:
- Responsible for proofreading/quality control and signing off on every document produced by the  Language Service for his/her respective language; - Assisting other translators with complicated and/or technical translations in his/her respective language; - Implementing and complying up to date dictionaries, in linguistics of the respective languages.
2. Written translation:
- Translating texts and documents of various kinds from/into English/Albanian that are relevant to the work of Departments within OMiK. These include laws, rules, court and administrative decisions, administrative instructions, conventions, covenants, charters, declarations, legal opinions, contracts; annual reports, special reports, newsletters, documents for seminars, meetings, papers for international conferences and round tables; discussion papers, conclusions, recommendations and minutes from high level meetings, conferences, regulations and outgoing official communication as well as other documents  necessitating  high quality translation, as assigned by National Language Service Co-ordinator.
3. Oral interpretation:
- Interpreting simultaneously and consecutively for OMiK Departments high officials, staff members and visitors of the OMiK Departments from/into English/Albanian during high level official meetings, seminars, conferences, meetings, round table discussions, official trips etc; - Accompanying OMiK officials/high officials when required on other official and informal events to provide interpretation services.  
4. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Necessary Qualifications:
  • Completed secondary education supplemented by formal studies/training in languages;
  • Minimum six years of translation or interpretation  experience;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Albanian.

OSCE International Intern in Programme Coordination Unit (PCU) Tirana

Tasks and Responsibilities
The Intern will work under the overall supervision of the Head of PCU. The intern will support PCU in conducting their day-to-day activities, as well as in carrying out special assignments and tasks.
The work will include the following tasks:
1 Support PCU in daily and on-going tasks, including but not limited to:
a) support with overview and mapping of cross-programmatic engagement related to gender, youth and civil society;
b) support with the monitoring and evaluation efforts of the Unit;
c) support Presence’s engagement with (Implementing) Partners;
d) support update of Presence’s project overview;
e) support update of the Presence’s input to External Assistant database;
f) support for the preparation of regular briefings and/or reports.
2 Support the update of the PCU’s donor mapping.
a) review project documents (ExB);
b) conduct desk research;
c) attend (donor) co-ordination/information meetings as applicable;
d) update and amend donor mapping overview.
3 Support PCU in special assignments, particularly as linked to the Head of Presence priorities or upcoming Albanian Chairmanship of the OSCE:
a) Support the production of background notes related to particular thematic events or special projects initiated by the Head of Presence;
b) Support the development analytical reports linked to a particular programmatic area.
c) As feasible, support with the production of an overview of the Presence milestones and key achievements since its establishment 23 years ago, in liaison with the Political and Public Affairs Unit.
4 Perform other duties, as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Students in the final year of higher education (university or other accredited institution) at graduate or postgraduate level; or recent graduates or postgraduates, i.e. within two years of graduation, in International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, Public Administration, or similar;
- Experience in preparing analytical reports;
- Excellent communication and drafting skills;
- Excellent written and oral skills in English, and computer literacy;
- Good diplomatic and organizational skills;
- Be able to adapt to a multicultural working environment;
- Gender equality awareness;
- Research skills and knowledge of project management will be an asset;
- Previous work or study experiences in or outside the home country are an advantage.

General Minimum Requirements
The general minimum requirements for working with the OSCE are:
  • Excellent physical condition
  • Possession of a valid automobile driving license and ability to drive using manual transmission

Field of Expertise Requirements
The general minimum requirements for working in this field of expertise are:
  • Second-level university degree in law or significant work experience in criminal justice and/or law enforcement (the latter required for police corrections officer training)
  • Experience in the practice of law, e.g. judges, prosecutors, lawyers, etc.
  • Knowledge of courtroom proceedings and criminal law and procedure
  • Knowledge of international legal procedure standards and instruments
  • Demonstrable organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Level of Professional Competence Requirements
Furthermore, this level of responsibility requires the following:
Second-level university degree in a relevant field
Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience

Programme Assistant - OSCE Mission in Kosovo / Prizren

Program Assistance: 
  • Drafting reports and correspondence in the requested language, on the basis of instruction received from supervisor(s) and/or on the basis of the knowledge of the work;
  • Preparing summaries of relevant meetings, documents/minutes, and programmatic activities;
  • Arrangind and co-ordinating meetings, notifying participants of time, date and subject matter;
  • Ensuring presence at the OSCE office in the municipal building in Rahovec/Orahovac;
  • Delivering information on the OSCE activities to the visitors; 
  • Collecting information on the ground and reporting to the supervisor(s) on relevant issues of concern expressed by the visitors to the OSCE office.  

Necessary Qualifications:
  • Completed secondary education
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience including in provision of translation and interpretation services, preferably with international organizations
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft packages
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in the local languages, specifically Serbian language.
